I’ve posted a few black & white film simulation recipes so far but only one of them was made on my X-H1 which was “MONOCHROME SANDS”. “COARSE CITY” is my latest B&W recipe that made with my X-H1.
They have similarities but the have a few key differences that make them unique. Although both have a strong grain setting, “MONOCHROME SANDS” mimics a bit more of a fine grain film stock, like TMAX or DELTA. I created “COARSE CITY” to give me more of a TR-X or HP5 vibe.
I never claim that any of these recipes look exactly like analog film but in terms of my B&W recipes for both my X-T1 and X-H1 this one comes the closest for me.
Take a look at some image samples and find the recipe settings below.

Sometimes you want the capture medium to get out of the way and just let the content and image shite through unobstructed. Other times you want want the capture medium to contribute to the art. You want it to add character or texture. You want it to be a brush stroke.
Give “COARSE CITY” a try and let me know what you think. I really like the results I’ve gotten from it so far.
