If you’ve browsed through the rest of my film simulation recipes you may have seen “COBALT” which I created on my X-T1. I liked the look I was getting out of “COBALT” and a lot of the reason for the look was the white balance setting. I decided to try to create something on my X-H1 that utilized that same WB setting but I also wanted to take advantage of some of the other settings available in that camera (and others with the X-Trans III sensor).

“C-3400” maintains the cool look of “COBALT” but it that’s really all it shares. This uses Classic Chrome as the base instead of PRO Neg. Hi. I also increased the dynamic range setting to DR400.

A setting combination that has worked really well for me lately to achieve an organic textured and analog feel is combining reduced sharpening with a strong grain setting. Having a strong grain setting paired with increased sharpening still works to give some texture but strong grain plus low sharpening creates a more film like look in my opinion.

My photo samples of this recipe are shot during the day but I think this could look pretty cool with night street photography.

Take a look at the samples and find the recipe settings after the photo gallery.
