For the past couple of weeks I have been writing at my desk in my home office. This has been good to help get me into a writing routine. Writing at the same time and same place every day. Every once in a while I like to get out of the house and write at a coffee shop or the library.

Even in a busy coffee shop I can get into the writing groove. The hustle and noise around me acts as white noise. My writing obstacles usually have very little to do with location and instead have everything to do with my personal procrastination struggles. Understanding my tendency to procrastinate with my writing has made me search out and utilize any tools I can to counteract those tendencies. Taking copious notes when brainstorming, doing as much rough outlining as possible, having a writing plan for the next day are all tactics I have implemented that help.

Another tactic that never fails to provide at least a little fuel to my writing fire is changing scenery.

Day 14 is in the books and day 15 is underway. I don’t know where I will be with this script at the end of the month but I won’t stop until it’s finished. Stay tuned.
